4 Wheel Laser Wheel Alignment

It’s important to ensure that your vehicle's wheel alignment is adjusted correctly, and properly aligned. Properly adjusted wheel alignment not only ensures that your vehicle drives in a straight line, it also ensures that it does so safely.

Wheel alignment that’s out of alignment causes your vehicle to pull to one side, it prematurely wears tyres, and it puts unnecessary stress and wear on your steering and suspension components.

Badly adjusted wheel alignment could also lead to an accident as it can make your car’s wheels skid in wet weather.

Wheel Alignment Experts in Petersfield - 2U Tyres

If you’re searching Google for “laser wheel alignment near me” and you’re in Petersfield, or the surrounding area, then 2U Tyres have the wheel alignment services you’re looking for. At both of our garages in Petersfield we have laser wheel alignment systems to get your vehicles tracking and alignment spot on. We have two different systems, both made by the wheel alignment experts, Supertracker.

This allows our technicians to make quick and accurate adjustments to your vehicle's wheels. Our Supertracker 4 wheel laser alignment system can check the Camber, Caster, Thrust Line, Toe in and Toe out.

On some vehicles not all of these can be adjusted, but if they are out of adjustment it could indicate other more serious problems with your vehicle. It’s common to see bent and damaged suspension components caused by driving over potholes, or bumping up kerb stones too quickly. These affect your vehicle’s positive camber, or negative camber.

Our 2 wheel laser alignment system is great if you only need the toe adjustment of your front wheels tracking adjusted. In our main tyre depot in Station Road, we also have Supertrackers 4 Wheel Laser Alignment system for a complete alignment solution. If you’ve had new tyres fitted for uneven wear, it’s a good idea to have your vehicle’s wheels aligned and tracking set. This will maximise your new tyres life, after all tyres are not cheap these days.

What is wheel alignment?

Wheel alignment, or tracking as it’s sometimes known, is the process of aligning your vehicle's wheels so that they run true to manufacturers specifications.

The most common adjustment is to the ‘toe in, or toe out’ of the wheel relative to their position in the vehicle.

Toe in, or toe out, is the amount of angle the front wheels, or rear wheels, have from parallel to the vehicle.

Too much ‘toe in’ means that the front edge of the front wheels are pointing in towards each other too much. Whilst too much ‘toe out’ means the front edge of the front wheels are pointing away from each other too much. Most vehicle manufacturers require a small amount of ‘toe out’ on the front wheels, which helps to keep the vehicle driving in a straight line and feeling stable on the road.

What problems does misaligned wheel alignment cause?

Have you ever noticed that the tyre tread on your vehicle's tyres are sometimes worn more on one side of the tyre than the other? Or, maybe the tyre is so worn on the tyre’s shoulder that little bits of metal wire are poking out. It could be the steering wheel is no longer in the same position that it used to be in. These are common symptoms of misaligned wheel alignment.

Misaligned wheel alignment has a direct effect on the handling and safety of your vehicle while driving. Therefore, we recommend that you regularly check and inspect your vehicle's alignment as part of your maintenance schedule.

An often overlooked result of poorly aligned steering is that misaligned wheel alignment has a direct effect on your vehicle’s MPG. The fuel economy of your vehicle reduces because misaligned wheels cause the wheels to have an increased rolling resistance on the road. This means the car’s engine has to work harder to overcome this, thus it burns more fuel. This is not only bad for your pocket, but it’s also bad for the environment.

How much does wheel alignment cost?

The cost of wheel alignment depends on whether you need a full 4 wheel laser alignment, or just a simple 2 wheel tracking adjustment. The cost of wheel alignment at 2U Tyres is competitive, and even our 4 wheel laser alignment session is less than the cost of one decent tyre. So it’s well worth having a regular checkup.

Making sure your tracking is spot on will maximize your tyres wear and life, thus costing you less in the long run. Badly worn tyres caused by misaligned wheel alignment can also lead to costly fines and penalty points on your driving licence! Currently (as of July 2021), we charge £36 including VAT for our 2 wheel tracking session, and £72 including VAT for our 4 wheel laser alignment session.
